Shooting Suspect Arrested

On October 13th, 2018, at approximately 7:30 PM, Bradenton Police responded to Manatee Memorial Hospital for a report of a 17 year old female with a gunshot wound. The investigation revealed that Antonio Vaca, 18 of Bradenton, accidentally shot the female victim while he was showing off a gun to another person. Initially, the witness, also 17 years old, provided a false story about her and the victim being involved in a drive-by shooting. She has been arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Vaca was identified by the victim and arrested yesterday. During the interview, he confessed to accidentally firing the weapon while showing it off.

He has been charged with:
Possession of a Weapon by a Convicted Felon
Culpable Negligence with Injury
