Arrest Made in Shooting of 7-Year-Old Girl

On September 8th, 2018, at approximately 4:25 PM, Bradenton Police Officers responded to the 2200 block of Manatee Ave E for a shooting investigation. Once on scene, officers learned that a 7-year-old female passenger in her mother’s vehicle was shot by an unknown suspect(s). The victim was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released later that evening.
Through video surveillance and witness cooperation, detectives were able to locate Axel Benito Ramirez, 18 years old, of Bradenton and charge him in this case. Ramirez admitted to firing a handgun into the vehicle as it passed by. There is no connection between the victim or her family, and Ramirez.

He has been charged with the following:
Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle
